Many people volunteer their time to help others, either through non-profit organizations, churches, or other charitable venues. Write an essay convincing readers to find a charity and volunteer their time.

There are many people that take time out of their life to volunteer and help out others in need. It is a very good gesture and not many people do this. I encourage people to help volunteer in their community. Not only will they be helping the community out, but it will also make that person feel joy and pride of what they did. Volunteering will be a great activity to practice and you will find that it will be fun.

For those that do not know, charity is the practice of giving of help to those in need who are not related to the giver. Many of the best known charities are set up by people who feel passionate about a situation that they believe is wrong or preventable. Most forms of charity are concerned with providing food, water, clothing, and shelter, and tending the ill, but other actions may be performed as charity. The activities and purposes provided by charities are a tangible benefit to the public.

You can volunteer in many different places, such as in churches, non-profit organizations, or other charitable venues. If you are ready and decided to volunteer at a place, it is best that you go find out and look at the place yourself. Get information and get familiar with the place. After you have done so, you are now ready to take part in volunteering and giving your help to those in needs. In the long run, those that you are helping will really appreciate it and you will then know that your job was done well.

Giving your time to help other people will be very generous. Not many people like to do that because they only care about themselves. I understand that some people may not even have time because they are so busy with work or their life in general. There are places close to your home you can go to help volunteer. You do not have to go far, it will be convenient for you and the charity you chose to help out.

Find a charity close to home and go out there and volunteer! Volunteering will be a great activity to practice and you will find that it will be fun. Help out the people in need and be productive in this world. What are you waiting for, go chose a charity to help volunteer. Many people will be thankful of this gesture.

Persuasive Writing Prompt #9- Reality Shows On Television

Today, there are more and more reality shows on television. Do these shows make good television? Why or why not? Explain your answer using specific reasons and examples.

Nowadays, there are more and more reality shows on television. Reality shows have had a terrible effect on our society. I believe that it is a bad influence for children of young ages and teenagers. These shows do not make good television because in the future those kids will want to have the life of the people in the reality shows. It is best that we expose good things to younger children and teens.

What effect has television had on my society? This is something that I ask myself and other people. This has become a major concern of many parents, grandparents, and educators. Many of these reality shows contain inappropriate things such as vulgarity, violence, and hyper sexuality that children should not be exposed to. There are many aspects to the effect that television, films, and advertising have on our society and on our children. These are related and often overlap, but in many cases they have separate and distinct issues.

For example, in the reality shows Keeping up with the Kardashians, Jersey Shore, and Bad Girls Club they display a lot of this inappropriate things that are bad influences to children. They are reality shows that are shown on famous T.V. programs. These shows were made to entertain us and show their “supposedly” everyday lifes. All they are trying to do is "entertain us". The truth behind reality shows is that it is all business. By them making their life crazy and wild they grab people's attention. This is when the cursing and vulgar acts come in place. The more views the program has the more money they make.

I strongly disagree that reality shows make good television. Sometimes shows expose too much. A small kid might be watching them and get examples from them, and in the future their path might end up going a whole different direction just because of that television show. Their life will become a disaster. When people sit at home watching shows they do not realize that they are just making them rich. They could be making money or finding a job instead of being at home and wasting their time. Good television shows that would be appropriate to watch are: national geograhics, history channel, or animal planet. Informs us about real life and we are able to learn stuff about everyday life.

Shows that do not teach us anything are not worth watching. We have to watch shows that would give us knowledge and be ready to answer any question in the real world. We have to watch shows that would teach us morals. Jersey shore definitely doesn’t do that. It just deals with alcohol, sex, fights, money, cars, tanning, and partying. Many would say that is “living life” which it is not because it just leads you to the wrong path. Real life is nothing compared to that, you have to make the right decisions. Reality shows has had a terrible effect on our society. So overall I really think that all these reality shows are bad television.

Setting As The World

The house I live in has been my home forever. There are many memories I have lived for the past seventeen years. The living room plays an important part in my childhood memories, as well as present memories. I remember this one day when it was getting dark, and it happened to be a rainy day. My family and I were all in the living room covered in our blankets and watching a television show on channel 34. Usually when we watch TV all together we joke around and talk about things that happened that we need to discuss among us. I remember seeing lightning and hearing thunderstorms while we were watching TV. I love the sound of lightning because it is something that we do not get often. My brother was scared so he got closer to my mom. We were all making fun of him, but like always my mom was telling us to leave him alone. I was craving something good to eat so I told my sister if she wanted to eat popcorn with me and she said," Yes, I want some too baby girl. How did you know I wanted some?" I was laughing so hard, and I just made that I do not know face. I went to the kitchen and then looked under the sink cabinet to see if we had popcorn. Fortunately, there was only one left. Like always, I started singing corridos out loud as I usually do at home. I made my way to the microwave and quickly put the popcorn bag inside and put four minutes and thirty seconds. Still singing, I went back to sit down on the couch. They were all telling me to shut up because I was annoying. I was just laughing like always. I was looking around the house and I was just thinking of all the people who must be homeless do not have a roof over them. I was lucky and I felt safe in my house. I thought to myself," I never want to leave this house." I then started to hear the popping of the popcorn. The aroma was so delicious. I almost tasted the popcorn in my mouth. That day my sister and I were just out of it. My parents, sister and brother would just be looking at us while we both were talking and laughing till we dropped the floor and could not breath anymore. The popcorn was done, so I went to go prepare it. I made sure they had a lot of tapatio salsa. We ate our popcorn, and when we finished were both full and satisfied. After a while, I went to brush my teeth and I came back with my sister. The rest had gone to sleep already. The VCR clock under the plasma TV read eleven thirty-three. I was laying down peacefully in the soft side of the couch. I do not know how, but I fell asleep. I woke up and it was twelve forty-one. The lights were off. My sister had gone to sleep too, but in the room. I got up and made my way to the room. I laid down on my bed and I fell asleep like a baby right away. That night was ironic.

Persuasive Writing Prompt #8- Family Size

A few decades ago, many families had half a dozen or more children. Nowadays, more and more families are choosing to have only one or two children. Are smaller families better that larger ones? Why or why not? State your position and support it with specific reasons and examples.

Decades ago families used to have half a dozen or more children. Everything changed, now the ideal family count in America includes four members. I understand that with big families comes great responsibility. I believe that smaller families are more convenient nowadays. It is up to the parents they are the ones who will take the responsibility and the burden, but I believe a smaller family is better to take care.

It is more convenient to have a smaller family because that way the parents will spend less money and have more money to save up for the things they need. In some cases parents do not have enough money to buy things that their children might need or want, so imagine if you had a big family. It would be hard for the parents to get the money to get each of their children something. That money that the parents can save up can be used for when they attend college in the future, bills they have to pay or anything else important that they need to pay. Your wallet will never go empty and you will be able to provide what you family needs.

The economic crisis had hit many Americans hard. Many people have lost their jobs and they are now homeless. Imagine if you were in these people's shoes with a family of six children or more? What would you do? It would be terrible to be in that situation. People are barely surviving with whatever they make at their job. They mostly only have enough to pay for the bills and maybe rent and food. Think of all the things your children might need, then multiply them by the number of kids you have. I do not even want to figure it out because I know it is going to cost you a lot of money from your wallet. It is better to think it twice before you decide to have a lot of children.

Having fewer kids will also help the parents have less problems. Parents will be able to keep track of all of their children easier if they only have like one or two children. This also means that if they need to go somewhere it will not be hard because you only have a few children and you will get the job done faster. Everything will be more quickly done and parents will be able to keep track of where their kids are at. The fewer the children, the less problems for the parents.

Parents should think about having a lot of children twice. It is best that they have a smaller family because it will be more convenient for them in many ways. Big families come with great responsibility, so it is up to the parents if they want to have a larger family. Everyone is different and prefer to have different things. But for me smaller families are a better choice over larger families.

Cats And Dogs

The cat, also known as the domestic cat or housecat[5] to distinguish it from other felines and felids, is a small furry domesticated carnivorous mammal that is valued by humans for its companionship and for its ability to hunt vermin and household pests. Cats have been associated with humans for at least 9,500 years, and are currently the most popular pet in the world. Owing to their close association with humans, cats are now found almost everywhere on Earth. Cats hear sounds too faint for human ears, they can also hear sounds higher in frequency than humans can perceive. This is because cats' usual prey make high frequency noises, so cats' hearing has evolved to pinpoint these faint high-pitched sounds. Cats rely more on smell than taste, and have a vastly better sense of smell than humans. The dog is a domesticated form of the gray wolf, a member of the Canidae family of the order Carnivora. The term is used for both feral and pet varieties. The domestic dog has been the most widely kept working, hunting and companion animal in human history. The word "dog" may also mean the male of a canine species, as opposed to the word "bitch" for the female of the species. Over the 15,000 year span that the dog had been domesticated, it diverged into only a handful of landraces, groups of similar animals whose morphology and behavior have been shaped by environmental factors and functional roles. As the modern understanding of genetics developed, humans began to intentionally breed dogs for a wide range of specific traits.

Dressing Formally And Informally

Formal wear is the general terms for clothing suitable for formal social events, such as a wedding, formal garden party or dinner, débutante cotillion, dance, or race. The Western style of formal evening dress, characterized by black and white garments, has spread through many countries; it is almost always the standard formal social dress in countries without a formal national costume. A dress code is a set of rules governing a certain combination of clothing; some examples are black tie and morning dress. Formal dress is the grouping of all the dress codes which govern clothes worn to formal events. The traditional rules that govern men's formal dress are strictly observed from these derive the evening dress variants worn on many occasions, such as high school prom dances, formal dances, and entertainment industry award programs. Informal attire, also called International business attire or Western business attire is a dress code, typified by a suit and necktie, for men. On the scale of formality, informal attire is more formal than casual but less formal than semi-formal. It is more presentational than semi-casual, but offers more room for personal expression than semi-formal dress. Informal should not be confused with casual, not even smart casual in loose common usage, many people refer to informal dress as semi-formal or formal and formal dress as very formal; this usage is not accepted by authorities on dress codes.

Raw And Cooked Foods

Raw foodism, or also known as rawism, is a lifestyle promoting the consumption of uncooked, unprocessed, and often organic foods as a large percentage of the diet. Raw foodists typically believe that the greater the percentage of raw food in the diet, the greater the health benefits. Raw foodism or a raw diet is usually equated with raw veganism in which only raw plant foods are eaten. Depending on the type of lifestyle and results desired, raw food diets may include a selection of raw fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds (including sprouted whole grains such as gaba rice), eggs, fish (such as sashimi), meat (such as carpaccio), and non-pasteurized and non-homogenized dairy products (such as raw milk, raw milk cheese, and raw milk yogurt). Cooking is the process of preparing food with heat. Cooks select and combine ingredients using a wide range of tools and methods. In the process, the flavor, texture, appearance, and chemical properties of the ingredients can change. Cooking techniques and ingredients vary widely across the world, reflecting unique environmental, economic, and cultural traditions. Cooks themselves also vary widely in skill and training.

Spicy And Sweet Foods

A spice is a dried seed, fruit, root, bark, or vegetative substance used in nutritionally insignificant quantities as a food additive for flavor, color, or as a preservative that kills harmful bacteria or prevents their growth. In the kitchen, spices are distinguished from herbs, which are leafy, green plant parts used for flavoring. Piquance or piquancy is a type of pungence specific to the sense of taste. Piquance is often quantized in scales that range from mild to hot. The Scoville scale measures the piquance of chili peppers, as defined by the amount of capsaicin they contain. It is not considered a taste in the technical sense, because it is carried to the brain by a different set of nerves. While taste nerves are activated when consuming foods like chili peppers, the sensation commonly interpreted as "hot" results from the stimulation of somatosensory fibers in the mouth. Many parts of the body with exposed membranes that lack taste receptors produce a similar sensation of heat when exposed to pungent agents. How Weather Affects Your Mood

Weather is the state of the atmosphere, to the degree that it is hot or cold, wet or dry, calm or stormy, clear or cloudy. Most weather phenomena occur in the troposphere, just below the stratosphere. Weather refers, generally, to day to day temperature and precipitation activity, whereas climate is the term for the average atmospheric conditions over longer periods of time. Mood is a relatively long lasting emotional state. Moods differ from simple emotions in that they are less specific, less intense, and less likely to be triggered by a particular stimulus or event. Moods generally have either a positive or negative valence. In other words, people typically speak of being in a good mood or a bad mood. I do believe that when the weather is cold or rainy, most people feel mad, sad, or depressed. When the weather is good, such as warm or no too cold, people tend to be more in a good mood because they get to do more things and they can enjoy the outdoors.

Public Schooling and Homechooling

State schools, also known in the United States and Canada as public schools, are schools mandated for or offered to all children by the government, whether national, regional, or local, provided by an institution of civil government, and paid for, in whole or in part, by State taxes. Homeschooling or homeschool, also called home education or home learning, is the education of children at home, typically by parents but sometimes by tutors, rather than in other formal settings of public or private school. Although prior to the introduction of compulsory school attendance laws, most childhood education occurred within the family or community, homeschooling in the modern sense is an alternative in developed countries to private schools outside the home or educational institutions operated by civil governments. Homeschooling is a legal option for parents in all 50 United States and some countries to provide their children with a learning environment as an alternative to public or private schools outside the home. Parents cite numerous reasons as motivations to homeschool, including better academic test results, poor public school environment, improved character and morality development, the expense of private education, and objections to what is taught locally in public school. It may be a factor in the choice of parenting style. Homeschooling is also an alternative for families living in isolated rural locations or living temporarily abroad.

Understanding And Knowledge

Understanding, also called intellection, is a psychological process related to an abstract or physical object, such as a person, situation, or message whereby one is able to think about it and use concepts to deal adequately with that object. An understanding is the limit of a conceptualization. To understand something is to have conceptualized it to a given measure. Knowledge is defined as expertise, and skills acquired by a person through experience or education, the theoretical or practical understanding of a subject, what is known in a particular field or in total; facts and information; or also the awareness or familiarity gained by experience of a fact or situation. Knowledge acquisition involves complex cognitive processes: perception, learning, communication, association and reasoning. When you understand something is when you have been taught and you get it. Knowledge has already been with you and you can apply it to something.

An Interesting Person

The most interesting person I know is my Uncle Yocundo. To me he is the best uncle in the world. I do not get to see him often because he lives in Mexico. When we are around him he is filled with joy because he likes it when we go with him up to the mountains to milk the cows. After he finished milking the cows, he gathers all of us around and he tells us stories. We all stay alert and not one word comes out of our mouths. His stories are so interesting. To bad he only tells us a few, but we always end up wanting to listen to more stories. I find it so interesting that he has the patience for all of us. I am one of the oldest because the rest are younger and happen to be his grandchildren. On our way back home he lets us all drive. I drove the farthest because I am the the oldest. I have learned to drive because of him. I cannot wait until I see him again this December so that I can hear more of his interesting stories.

Most Effective Teacher

The most effective teacher I have had was in the second grade. She was a very helpful teacher and I learned alot form her. I was about to get flunked in the first grade because I did not know how to read. My mom begged to the teacher and she told her that she will make me learn how to read. She gave me a chance and she did not flunk me. My second grade teacher taught me how to read. At the end of the school year, I was able to read chapter books all by myself. My mom and my teacher were very proud of me. I also learned how to multiply up to three digit numbers. She would help any student that had problems with anything. She took her time. If a student did not get it right away she would set time before or after school just to help you out so that you can get what you did not understood. She was also a very creative teacher and she would assign us projects that were fun and also helped us learn more. I had her for two years, and those two years were incredible!

Not Enough Sleep

Many people nowadays do not get the proper amount of sleep they should be getting. They get so caught up with their favorite late night talk shows or just because they are talking on the phone, texting, or using the computer. If you are a student, it will affect you greatly. When a student goes to sleep late, the next day in class they feel sleepy and they do not pay attention in class. This affect them academically because since they do not listen to the teacher as they are giving their lecture, they will do poorly on their assignments and tests. Having a good night sleep will help them have a fresh start in the morning and they will be able to absorb all the information the teacher is ready to lecture on. It goes the same for those that go to work early in the morning. They will not be alert on their work and it is possible that if they keep that up they might get fired and then they will start to have economic problems in the future. This is why it is important to get a good night's sleep so that the next day you can be fresh and ready to start a new day.

My Favorite Movie

My favorite movie is The Hangover, which came out in 2009. It is an American comedy film starring Bradley Cooper, Justin Bartha, Ed Helms, and Zach Galifianakis as the four main characters. There is a couple that is getting married and the groom and his two friends and soon to be brother-in-law decide to go to Las Vegas for his bachelor's party. They get to Las Vegas and they go on the roof of their hotel room and they decide to cheer for the groom and have some alcohol. Little did they know that the groom's brother-in-law put in roofies, also known as Rohypnol, so that made them forget all the crazy things they did that night. The next morning they find that the groom is missing so the rest of the three go out to find him. As they are looking for him, they discover all the crazy things they do and every clue helps to find the groom. There adventure is fun-filled. They go from finding a baby in their hotel closet, to having a tiger in the bathroom. At the end they discover that the groom is in the roof. The wedding is taking place that same day. They drive back to their home and they make it just in time for the wedding. What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.

Learning A New Language

I will be spending a year abroad and I was told that I need to learn a new language to be able to communicate with he people there. They happen to be French, so now I have to learn how to speak French fluently. I only know how to say hello, thank you and please in French. I most definetely need to learn this language fast! I will start searching for a French teacher who can teach me how to speak French. Hopefully this will help me out. If the teacher is not helpful, I will take French courses in a school. I was also thinking of buying those DVD's and audio tapes that help you learn how to speak a language, but I do not know if that will help me out. I will try all three methods. I would make sure to spend most of my time learning to speak French. That will mean that I have to make up a schedule for everyday so that I can be organized. These would be my plans to accomplish my goal of learning how to speak fluent French.

My Favorite Music Video

My favorite music video is "Y Que Quede Claro" by La Arrolladora Banda El Limon. I like this song because it is a love song. It is a really cute video. The video starts off with two couples in bed. The alarm clock goes on, and it is now time for them to get up. They get in the bills and they barely have money to pay for the bills. The girl is washing clothes and the guy is next to her drinking a cup of coffee thinking about something that is bothering him, perhaps the fact that they need money to survive. They go eat to this taco place, and later that night he cannot sleep because he is thinking too much about their economic problems. The next morning he finds out that his wife is pregnant. He immediately has a huge smile on his face. They start saving money and everyday they put in money into a jar. Later on he decides to go ask for a job at the taco place where he and his wife had gone to that one night. That same day his wife goes into labor, and the neighbor immediately tell him that she went to the hospital. He quickly goes into the house to get the jar of money and runs to the hospital. He finds that he does not have enough money to pay the hospital, so he goes and asks the owner of the taco stand if he can lend him some money. The man helps him out. The last part of the video is when the wife is in the hospital bed with the husband and the nurse brings in the baby. The husband kisses his wife in the forehead and they both look at the baby.

Teenage Fad

A teenage fad that is going on right now is the use of skinny jeans. It is used by both females and males. I recently stated using them. I find them to be stylish and they look nice when you wear them with dressy shoes, Vans, or Nikes. I believe they became popular because they all of a sudden came out in the store and someone bought them, then someone saw that person and they went to go buy some. After that everyone had at least one pair of skinny jeans in their closet. I also believe that woman and girls wear them because they look feminine, not like the regular jeans that are wide from the bottom. I still wear those because I believe they look nice. I tend not to get to involved with the trends because I feel that it is not me. I prefer to dress however I want to. Everywhere I go, I mostly see all girls with skinny jeans. I have only seen a couple guys with skinny jeans on, but I think that they should not wear them due to the fact that they are tight. I do not know that is just my opinion.

Relationships Between People and Animals

There are many people that spend a great time with animals. To some people, they consider animals to be like people or their best friends. Like they always say, a man's best friend is a dog. I have seen in some occasions that some people see their pets like if they were their sons or daughters. Others like to help animals because they have no shelter or home. The relationship between a person and an animal can be really great. Some people cannot live without their pets. They take them everywhere they go. One time when I was at the park I saw that this lady had her dog in a dog stroller. In my mind I was," That is crazy!" I had never seen nothing like that. I have only had a relationship with animals once. I had a goldfish once, but it died. I used to feed it when it was the proper time, clean its tank, and I would also pet it. I enjoyed having a goldfish, it was a nice experience. If you ever experience on having a relationship with an animal, you will enjoy it greatly.

Short- Short Story

Eighty-five years old, still young and fresh from the inside. My grandmother may be old but she can still move around pretty good. I have seen her at parties. She has the face of a seventeen year old. My cousin usually takes her out to dance, and let me tell you she knows how move her feet. She seems to be young now. Her worries are not much common anymore. Back in her days she had to do many things, such as take care of her children and my grandfather, and do the house chores. Her whole life she has worked hard and she has never given up. Now, I believe she is relaxing and enjoying the last few years of her life. During her life time, she has suffered various falls that have caused her injuries in her hips and pelvic bone, but she remains standing strong. She might look old from the outside, but the child, teenager, and young woman in her are still in the inside waiting to be released once more.

Persuasive Writing Prompt #7- Driving Age

Most states allow people to get a driver's license at the age of 16. Some people feel that 16 is much too young for the responsibility that come with driving a car and that teenagers should not be allowed to drive until the age of 18. In your opinion, at what age should people be allowed to drive, and why?

Most states allow people to get driver's license at the age of sixteen. There are some people that believe sixteen is much too young for someone to be driving because they don't have responsibility and that they should drive until they turn eighteen. I believe that sixteen is a perfect age to start driving. It may be a young age, but it is best to start earlier than late. I have my reasons why driving at the age of sixteen is the best age to get you driver's license.

When a sixteen year old has the privilege to drive, it is something they should be thankful for. Once they start driving they will start to gain responsibility because they will know that it is a big job for them to be behind the wheel. A teenager will know that if they are driving they have to abide by the rules and respect the streets as anyone else does. By learning how to drive at age sixteen this will make them responsible because they will then see how an adult has to be and how they are supposed to act. It is an act they will totally change them up to become someone more responsible.

This also helps save time for the parents. For example, when a teenager has to go somewhere, instead of the parents taking where they want to go they can drive themselves. There will not be no more hassle for the parents. Now the parents will have more time to complete something or achieve a chore they have to accomplish. They will no longer hear," Mom, I need you to take me here." It will be time saving and convenient for both the teenager and their parents.

It will also be convenient for a parent to have a teenager son or daughter who knows how to drive at the age of sixteen in case of an emergency. It is always best that there are more drivers other than the parents. For example, if the father is at work and the mother at home has a heart attack or seizure, the teenager at home can drive the mother to the hospital in case the ambulance does not arrive in time to take the mother to the hospital. They can also be able to do favors for the parents, such as going to the store last minute and buying something they need. Situations like this always come and go so it is necessary to have an extra driver at home.

Sixteen should be the driving age to be able to get your license. There are many advantages to this and both the parents and the teenagers will benefit from this. It may be a young age, but it is best to start earlier than late. They will show more responsibility and their character will grow as well. I totally agree on the driving age to be legal at age sixteen.

Persuasive Writing Prompt #6- Donation To Our School

If an alumnus donated a large sum of money to your school, how do you think that money should be spent? Write an essay convincing school officials to allocate the money in the way you think is best for the school.

It was a beautiful Monday morning at City Honors College Preparatory School. A student who graduated last year was making their way to the main office, and then after ten minutes they came out and that person gave me a smile. I went inside the office and I heard Mrs. Brown and Mrs. Wilson talking about a large amount of money that was donated to our school by an alumnus. It was a nice gesture from that person. Mrs. Brown said that they needed ways to think of how to use the money for the best of the school. I had a few ideas in mind.

Field trips would be a great way for us to make good use of the money donated by the alumnus. This can be a very educational and also a fun experience for all of us in school. This can help us learn new things. For example, if we go to a museum we can learn a lot about history which will help us understand it more if we have the class already. This will also give us an opportunity to socialize and interact with each other as we are being educated and having a fun time.

The money donated would greatly help us buy new school supplies. We are in need of new books and many more supplies. It would be nice for every teacher to have new supplies so they can be able to teach us the way we should be taught. In some cases, when I am in class the teacher has ran out of markers so we have to borrow one from another teacher. We could use the money to buy markers, pencils, pens, erasers, and any other school supplies we need. This money could help us buy more books so that every teacher has a class set and also a book for every student take home.

Every year, seniors have problems paying for their senior events such as prom, senior pictures, and grad night. The school can also use this money to help out the seniors. It would be such a good idea because it will help us save money from our pockets. Not only can it be used towards the seniors, but as well as for the underclassmen to help them pay for winter formal or for any other event that involves the whole school. It will help us all out and many more people will be able to attend the events. This will truly save money from our pockets that will help us out pay other important things that we might need in the future.

I really appreciate the person that made the donation to our school. They have given us a gift and it is something we will use wisely that will benefit our school, students and the teachers as well. The three ideas I proposed are adequate and I think they are the best ideas that we can follow as to how we should spend the money donated to our school. These are the ideas I have and the best ways to spend it for the convenience of our school, students, and the teachers.

Personal Essay

This summer of 2010, my family and I were going to Zacatecas, Mexico. I was so excited because I had not gone since December of 2008. I remember I had a calendar and I would count the days left till I was leaving. We had already started to go buy stuff to take and I also bought new clothes and shoes. As the day came closer, it was hard for me to get sleep at night. All I would do is think on all the fun things I was going to do when I was in Mexico. My mom had already told my family in Mexico that we were going to Mexico on July 17. We always go by car so it takes us like a day to get there. Just a week before the big day, I started packing my personal stuff. I had three small bags, all full and ready to explode. Four days before the seventeen, I received the news that we were not going to Mexico anymore. I felt so disappointed! I did all this for nothing. My hopes were high up, but then my dad told me the reason why our trip was cancelled. My grandmother was close to getting a heart attack and half of her body was paralyzed, so my dad had to stay and take care of my grandmother and he was the only one that could take her to the doctor. I felt bad for my grandmother and I just hoped that she recovered from the paralysis. Each night I prayed so that she could get better. After I received the news, I unpacked my three small bags and put everything back in its place. I still felt disappointed though because my summer was going to be boring and I had already pictured myself in Mexico in the fiestas, drinking my cantarito, and watching the tastuanes dancing around. You never get what you want, so do not expect to get it.

Memoir

It was the beginning of our freshmen year and a lot of us did not know each other. I only knew the people that went to my middle school. The first day of school I explored everyone I had seen for the first time. There was this one girl in particular that caught my attention. She looked totally geeky and I was laughing when I saw her. I pointed her out to Karen and she started laughing as well. Every time I saw her I would have the urge to burst out laughing. The girl's name was Patricia, but she does not go here anymore. She wore big and geeky glasses. Her hair was always grabbed in a ponytail with the same purple scrunchie. She wore her shirt tucked in with her pants all the way up. She had a huge rolling backpack, which made her bound to be laughed at by the upper classmen. I had her for two classes, sociology and biology. She was always alone, it seemed as though she had no friends. One day for biology, the teacher gave us a partner activity and guess who got stuck with Patricia, I did! In my mind I was laughing and I tried to hold it in. We started working and there was an awkward silence. To break the ice, I decided to talk with her and see what she would say. I asked her if she was interested in any sports. It was a shocker, she said she liked baseball and that she was an Angel fan. I was really shocked to hear this, I would have never imagined this. I told her I was an Angel fan to and from there all we did was talk about the Angels. We got so caught up that we did not even do the partner assignment. After all she turned out to be a great person. I had regret talking the way I did about her. I did not know her so I had no right to express myself towards her like that. Never judge a person by their appearances, it is mean and disrespectful. It is not based on just their appearance, you have to get to know them. Do not judge a book by its cover.

My Luscious Dessert

As I was thinking of this, I definitely imagined something with chocolate. It all came to me! I imagined a chocolate chip waffle topped with jamoca almond fudge ice cream topped with hot fudge, almond pieces, whipped cream and a cherry on the top. I can imagine it right now and my mouth gets so watery. I have tried these things individually, so why not try them both together. That would make such a good combo. After I finish doing this blog I will go try it out and see if it is good. Im so hungry now! I can imagine the hot fudge running through the ice cream, the waffle then when it hits the plate itself. Hearing the whipped cream getting sprayed on the ice cream makes my ears tingle. The waffle with crunch once I bite it. It will sure have a wonderful taste, every bite will be chocolately. This is how my luscious and decadent dessert would be like.

Life Without Cell Phones

Approximately 4.6 billion people own a cell phone worldwide. All these 4.6 billion people would not have a cell phone if they did not exist today. I think that many people today would be devastated because there are alot of people who depend on their phone for personal or business use. Modern life would be different because there would be no way to communicate if you were out. In case of an emergency they will not be able to contact you and you will not know. You will end up knowing once you get home. If there were no cell phones, there would not be any texting either. Teenagers now a day text like there is no tomorrow. Without texting, I wonder what would do they do. It is kind of better though because that way they can communicate in person and not by text. But we do need cell phones to communicate with people in case of an emergency. Life would be so much different if cell phones did not exist.

Spain

I have always wanted to go to Spain. It seems like a very amazing country. I would like to go travel and see all the wonderful places. I also want to go see the bullfights, all the old buildings, and the schools. I was looking at some pictures and it seems like the ocean over there is very beautiful. It is always nice to go visit places where you have never been too. It is known to be a tourist country so many people go every year to visit. The bullfights are the events that get my attention more because I have been to some in Mexico and they are very interesting and fun to watch. Spain is very known for bullfights so I know that they will be very fun filled. I also want to try the cuisines in Spain, experience the rich flavor of the food Spaniards eat. It is always good to try new good from other places. I hope that one day I do get to go to Spain and get to experience all the fun things to do and see in Spain.

College In Another State

You are going to attend college in another state. There are many things you have to do before you move out. First of all, you have to find a place to stay in in the other state, unless you are going to stay at the college. You would also have to find a job in order to be able to pay for college, that is not if your parents are paying for it or you have scholarships or grants. You also need the money to pay for food, toiletries, and even gas if you are driving a car. After you have a place and a job on the other state, you have to get your stuff from here to the other state. You have to be sure that you really want to go to the other state and be sure to have motivation that you will make it out there because if you are not sure you will quit and you plans will go down the drain. I just wish you good luck in the future.

My Best Friend's Birthday

If I were to celebrate my best friend's birthday I would first have to know what she likes. For example, her favorite color, her favorite food, beverages she enjoys drinking and also what cake she likes the best. I would inform all her family and friends that I was throwing a party for my best friend. I would then find the perfect place to have the party where all her family and friends will be able to enjoy it with her. After that I would go buy the decorations on the color my best friend likes, and also get forks, plates, napkins, and spoons. The day of the birthday party I would fix everything very early and since it would be a surprise, I would personally go pick her up and tell her if she wanted to chill but first we had to go do something. It would be amazing to see her face when we all scream," Surprise!" The music will be played and the party will start! What an amazing time we will all have. It will be a party that my best friend will always remember.

The 80's

If I could live during any decade I would like to live during the 80's. There were many amazing and tragic things that happened during this time. In 1980, John Lennon was assassinated. At this time Mount St. Helens also erupted. That toy every kid had made of different color cubes called the Rubik's cube became very popular among everyone. Ted Turner also established CNN. In 1981 they tried to assassinate both the Pope and U.S. President Ronald Reagan. We had never imagined that Sandra Day O'Connor would ever be appointed to the supreme court and it did happen this year. That was such a good accomplishment for her. That year a new plague was identified as AIDS. Pac-Man also became extremely popular among the kids and adults. IBM introduced personal computers. In entertainment, E.T. was released in theaters and Michael Jackson released Thriller. Cabbage Patch Kids became popular among kids. Sally Ride became the first American woman in space. In 1985, the new Coke hit the market. This year as well the wreck of the Titanic was found. I would have liked to live in other decades, but for some reason I found this one very interesting.

Appreciating My Parents

I really thank my parents for giving me birth. My parents have been with me ever since year one, and they have guided me to a successful path. They are both hard workers and they have given me what I needed. They have also been in the good and bad times, making me feel better. I am very thankful that they have provided a roof over my head and have given me food and things that I need. I really love my parents they are the best ever! My parents have gone through many things and they have struggled to feed not only me but also my brother and sisters. They both work everyday, sweating a tear each minute of the day. Without my parents I think I would not be able to survive. They have given me the strength to continue in life and achieve my goal of becoming an elementary teacher. Whenever I have a problem they are always there to help me and I really appreciate that. They have done so much for me and I really thank God for having such wonderful parents.

A New Person From Another Country

There was this new guy from Mexico that just arrived from Zacatecas, Mexico a week ago. I was personally asked to write an article about him since he is new. First of all, the first thing on the article would would be his name, Victor Hernandez. I would ask him for his information such as the year and date when he was born, his age, what city and country he came from and where he was born at. I would also ask him what are some of his favorite hobbies, his favorite color, food, beverage, and also why not how many brothers and sisters he has. I would also like to include what he wants to become when he grows up, the job in which he wants to succeed in. It would also be a great idea to include quotes from his family members telling us what a wonderful person Victor is. In the article I will also include pictures of him with his family members. These would be the things I would include in the article.

Preserving Family History

If I wanted to know how to preserve our family history, I would talk to my parents and my two grandmothers. I would tell them what are some of the traditions they perform year long, such as in holidays, birthdays or any other special occasions. I would also ask if there is something that has been passed down from generation to generation, such as something valuable or even a recipe that was made by my ancestors. Something else I would ask is if they had any stories or myths that were told about nature or something else. After they tell me all the traditions they do, I would try to follow them and when I have children I would encourage them to follow them as well. In some cases some of the traditions die and they are not passed to the next generations. If this was the case with my family I would try to revive these traditions and practice them. I am pretty sure that my parents would be proud of me if I were to do this. Preserving family traditions are important.

Choosing The Right College

In order for you to choose the right college, you have to see what they offer at the college. You have to consider your major and see if they have a good program for your major. It also has to do if you like the school, the campus, and where the location is found. Money is also something you have to look at because the college might be expensive and you might not have enough money to go to that school. You can get scholarships or grants to help pay for it. I would say that you would know if a college is right for you because you will get that feeling that will make you want to go there. For example, I want to go to Dominguez Hills and major in history to become an elementary teacher. The main field at Dominguez Hills is teaching so it a good school for me to attend and I like that it is actually close to my house so it is convenient for me. You will eventually know the right college to attend.

Master Plan

To make my community a better place, it would be best that we all cooperate with each other. It would be nice that we made up a club that anyone would join to help out. If my community was dirty and there was trash on the streets or other public places I would then like for us to dedicate one day of the week to go out and clean those places. To keep the children away from violence it would be a good idea to get the kids involved in sports or clubs that will get their interest. This can also be applied to adults so that way they can be occupied or help out in the clubs. Basically it would be fundamental that we all worked together and pitch in to make our community a better place to live in.

Typical Day Of My Life

There are many things I do in a typical day of my life. The first thing I do is wake up at 6:30 A.M. to get ready for school. After I wake up, I fold my blanket, grab my hair with a scrunchie, put my sandals on then get my phone and walk out to the living room. I grab the clothes I am going to wear from the center table I laid down the night before and make my way to the bathroom. I wash my face with water then I apply my facial cleanser. I start to brush my teeth and then I use mouthwash. Once I finish brushing my teeth, I take off the facial cleanser and then clean my face with a towel. I quickly change into my clothes, then I wash my hair in the bath. I then fix my hair with mousse and hairspray. My hands are sticky so I wash them with soap. I apply my moisturizer before I do my makeup, which is just putting mascara and eyeliner. I head back to the living room and I sit down on the couch to put on my shoes. I am now finished so I get the clothes I was wearing before I changed, my sandals and makeup bag to go put it away. After I put my things away, I grab my perfume bag and spray myself. I make my way to the kitchen eat a breakfast burrito, then when I finish I got back to the bathroom apply lotion on my hands and arms, then I put my rings on. I grab my bag, put my water bottle inside my bag, tell my mom good-bye have a nice day, then I get inside the car and on my way to school to see what awaits me.

Vegetable I Truly Dislike

The vegetable that I truly dislike are peas. I do not know why but I have always found them disgusting. If there is food I am eating that contains food, I always immediately take out all the peas. There has been many times I have tasted them and they have a weird taste. Since I do not like peas sometimes after I finish eating my food that contained peas makes me want to play with the peas and I start rolling them with my fingers or squeeze them all. My mom gets mad at me, but I find it funny. It weird because I like most vegetables, but I really dislike peas. I like carrots, and peas and carrots go together. I do believe that my family also dislikes peas because my mom never does food with peas , and when we eat the instant noodle soups we always take out the peas that are in there. If I have always disliked peas before and now, I think I will dislike them in the future as well. I wonder if I will ever like them, but I really doubt it.

My Favorite Season

My favorite season is winter. During this season it gets colder and I like cold weather. I also like it because in December I go to Mexico every year. I have so much fun even though I just go for three weeks. I just count the months and days before it is winter. It also means that I will be seeing my family that lives in Mexico that I have not seen in a long time. When I am in Mexico for Christmas and New Years Eve we all get together and stay up late. It is the best time because it is over winter break. That is when I get to have three weeks of freedom and relaxation. This year I will be going to Mexico in December, and I will make the most of it this year because it will be the last December in high school that I will be going to Mexico. Winter is such a wonderful season.

Brothers and Sisters

There is no day that passes by that my siblings and I do not fight or argue. There is always something that happens between us and we start to argue or fight. There has been times where we do not talk for a period of time, but then we start talking like nothing happened. When I argue with my siblings I feel bad afterwards because my mom screams at us and this just makes her feel bad. Now that I am older I try to get more along with my siblings so that there will be no more problems between us. I think that as we get older things change so we mature and we will be able to manage our problems more properly and not make a big deal out of it. It is always best that siblings get along because it is not good when families separate just because of a silly thing that happened between them. For example, my dad and my sister have not talked to each other for over two years, and this gets my mom worried and stressed. I do not know if this will last forever, but hopefully it gets solved soon so that we can all be united as a family.

Persuasive Writing Prompt #5 - Security Guards and Security Equipment In Public Schools

Many schools employ security guards and have installed security equipment such as video cameras and metal detectors in the building. In your opinion, how should security in public schools be handled? Use specific reasons and examples to support you answer.

There are many schools that have adopted a strict security system on their campuses. Schools put metal detectors, cameras, and even several security guards around the campus. The reason schools do this is because they want to create a safer environment for the students because in some cases they have brought in drugs, illegal weapons or other substances that are not allowed in school. They want to check the students before they go in the school campus. I think it is good that they implement some stuff such as the securities and metal detectors, but not the security cameras.

Metal detectors are a good idea to install in all school campuses. There are many students that have sneaked in things they are not supposed to have in school. By installing metal detectors in school they will be able to stop this and our school environment will be a safer place. They should be put in front of the school under the gate so that no student can get away from being detected. They should not be completely searched, but just have them pass through the detector so that anything illegal will not be roaming school grounds.

There should also be security guards in schools to help the campus be safer and to prevent the students to get into fights. There should be a few securities roaming the campus, such as one in front of the school and the rest scattered around the campus. It will also prevent the students from ditching school and leaving during passing periods or during lunch time. They will keep order between all the students and there will be less chance that there will be fights on the school campuses.

I do not approve security cameras in school grounds. Installing security cameras is a form of invasion of privacy for all the students and faculty in school. This will make everyone feel uncomfortable while being at school. You will not be able to do nothing because all the time you will know someone will be looking at you. They do not have restrictions and in some occasions it has been informed that they are placed in bathrooms and in locker rooms. These places are to remain private and they do not respect that. If they were to have security cameras in school grounds, eventually some people will feel harassed and they will want to go to another school where they will feel much more comfortable.

I encourage security guards and security equipment at school campuses. It will help make our school environment a safer place. It is good if they adapt it, but without the use of security cameras. Students will feel better and will not feel bullied or scared of attending a school free of drugs and illegal weapons. If schools adapt this, many problems will be solved in school campuses.

State Of The Art Computer

Miguel has been saving money for 2 years in order to buy a brand new state of the art computer. He thought he needed to replace his old computer and upgrade it. He had been having his computer for ten years. It was a Saturday morning when Miguel decided to go to Best Buy, and then he started looking around where the computers and laptops were at. He was looking carefully at the details. You have to know the number of gigabytes, the brand kind and many other things. Miguel asked one of the people working there to help him out chose a computer. Giovanni, the sale's person, said he recommended a Windows based PC with monitor. He told him that the memory should have a minimum 1 gigabyte of RAM, but with 2 gigabytes because it will give better performance. He then explained that it is better to have a bigger monitor. The kind of software needed on a computer Giovanni recommended is to get Microsoft Works and a free anti-virus. Once you have all these steps checked you should be fine and ready to purchase your new computer. Miguel will be taking a good computer home and his savings of two years will be all worth it.

College Admission Test

You have been informed that if you want to attend El Camino College or any other college, you have to take a college admission test. You have to prepare yourself in order to be ready for the test. Something you can do is study for the course that will be on the test. Most likely the subjects you will be tested on will be English and mathematics. That is an advantage because you know what subjects you will be tested on. If you need any help on any of them you should get tutored so that way you can understand the subject better. Once you get tutored you just have to study until the day you get tested. In this case you will need to get help from everyone or from a study group with other students that will also be taking the college admission test with you. You have to be totally prepared because in order to get into the college you want to attend to you have to do your best on the college admission test.

Ending A Relationship

If you want to end a relationship, the best thing to do is to talk to the person you are ending the relationship with. You have to let that person know how you feel, express yourself. At first it might be hard to do it because that person might not want the relationship to end. If the person wants to end it as well it will not be hard. For me it would be hard to end a relationship because I have never done that before. I guess it would just be best that you talk truthfully and let the other person know how you feel and just let it all out. Let's just hope that it does not end bad because then you will not want see each other not even by painting. If you are ending a relationship with your girlfriend or boyfriend they usually just stay friends afterwards. If you want it to end well you should not be aggressive about it and just be calm and truthful. This is how I would act if I was ending a relationship with either my friend or boyfriend.

How To Make New Friends

It is always good to make new friends. A way you can use to make new friends is just by talking to them. You can introduce yourself and get to know the person a little more. You also have to be yourself around this person, but also be nice or else you will end up scaring the person away and they will not want to be your friend. You will find that you both might have similarities. After you have gotten the chance to know them more, you can invite them to your house or go hang out with them some where else. If they accept well that means they like you and they will eventually want to become your friend. If they are truly a great friend, they will accept you for the way you are not by the materialistic things you may own or have. Everyday someone makes a new friend. These are just some techniques you can use, but there are other ways you can use to make a new friend. So what are you waiting for, go out there and meet a new friend.

My Favorite Game

My favorite game is the monopoly baseball edition. I really enjoy playing it, especially when I play with my siblings. It includes all the thirty baseball teams, in both the American and National Leagues. It attracts me since it has to do with baseball. I have the chance to be able to own one of the teams or more when we play. It is like the original monopoly, just that this one is about baseball. The chance and community cards talk about baseball, such as for example if a person lands on a chance or community chest the card might say that they have to pay to fix the baseball field. I like that I can relate to the game and I am very familiar with the baseball rules and the teams. It is always fun when you can relate to something because you will understand the game more clearly. Just to be writing about this makes me want to go take out the game and start playing with my siblings. It is a really fun game and I recommend anyone to play it. Monopoly baseball edition is the best game!

Prejudice

A prejudice is a prejudgment. It can an assumption made about someone or something before having adequate knowledge to be able to do so with guaranteed accuracy. The word prejudice is most commonly used to refer to a preconceived judgment toward a people or a person because of race, social class, gender, ethnicity, age, disability, political beliefs, religion, sexual orientation or other personal characteristics. It also means beliefs without knowledge of the facts and may include "any unreasonable attitude that is unusually resistant to rational influence." There are alot of people who are prejudice towards other. It is wrong to do this. They should never judge a book by its cover. If a person judges others they are just harming themselves. You cannot assume how a person is with out knowing them. Once you get to know a person fully you will have a different mind set. The best thing to do is to first get to know the person then you can see how they really are. You will not know until you give it a try.

Impulse Buying

An impulse purchase or impulse buy is an unplanned decision to buy a product or service, made just before a purchase. One who tends to make such purchases is referred to as an impulse purchaser or impulse buyer. Research findings suggest that emotions and feelings play a decisive role in purchasing, triggered by seeing the product or upon exposure to a well crafted promotional message. When a person is this way, they spend a lot of money. A person will continue to buy and buy more things eventually. Some people tend to do this because they feel the need to feel good about themselves, or either because they feel they have to have everything they see that they want. In some occasions, people just buy things to be up with the fashion designs. It becomes out of control and eventually they will have alot of bills to pay. There have been some situations where people cannot pay for all the things they buy and they will go to jail or get the things taken away from them. Others are able to pay for the things they buy, but may have some difficulty on getting the money because they also have other bills to pay not just for their credit cards. It is best that people control themselves and stop being so impulsive when they go shopping.

Visitor From Another Planet

Pollution is the introduction of contaminants into a natural environment that causes instability, disorder, harm or discomfort to the ecosystem, such as physical systems or living organisms. In other words, pollution harms our environment. I would explain what are the things that pollute our planet. Air pollution comes from both natural and man made sources. Though globally man made pollutants come from combustion, construction, mining, agriculture and warfare are increasingly significant in the air pollution equation. Motor vehicle emissions are one of the leading causes of air pollution. Another form of pollution comes from factories where they make things such as chemical plants, coal-fired power plants, oil refineries, petrochemical plants, nuclear waste disposal activity, incinerators, and large livestock farms. Agriculture causes pollution as well because farmers spray pesticides and herbicides and also clear felling and burning of natural vegetation. Pollution is bad and it is harming our planet. Alot of people are not aware of this and I think that everyone should know. We should all take care of our environment and the things that were put here on Earth.

Modern Life Without Computers

Modern life would be different without computers. If you think about it, internet would have not existed as well. Without a computer there are many things as we would not be able to do. Some of the things that most people would not be able to do would be to research things on webs such as Google and Yahoo. We need to research for school projects and also just for personal information in case someone wants to know about something. Not alot of people would know. There would be no Facebook, MySpace, AIM, or any other websites people like to visit for personal or business use. Everything we did for school we had to hand write because we would not be able to type up our school papers or anything else we had to type. Most people today have adapted their life to using a computer everyday. Now I am thinking that I would not be typing this blog or any other blogs I have already posted up. Computers have been improving over the years and it is something to be thankful for. Life would be so different.

Good Drivers

If a person is going to drive a car, they have to be good drivers. In order to be a good driver you have to have experience and someone to help you who already knows how to drive. Before you are able to drive legally you have to take certain tests. If you do not pass the test you will not be able to drive at all until you pass them. You have to also be able to have control of the wheel and not be nervous while driving. A person has to be fully aware of their surroundings and pay attention to everything. As of behavior, a person has to be in a good mood to drive. If someone is feeling mad or sad it is possible that they might crash and have an accident becasue they will be worried about their situation. You have to be in a positive attitude to drive. It is good to follow all the rules when driving. If you are going to make a turn to either the right or the left, put your signal. There are some people that do not do this and that is how more accidents occur. It is also good to put your lights at night so that everyone else driving can see you or else they will crash into you. It takes many steps to become a good driver. Just be sure to follow all the rules and you will eventually become a good driver.

Espinoza Paz

At a young age, Espinoza Paz developed his love towards music. He wrote his first song when he was thirteen years old when he was in love with a classmate in school. Espinoza Paz was a campesino working hard everyday harvesting oranges, tomatoes, olives and grapes. When he went back to his native town in Mexico, he had received the news that his mother had died. He and his father were devastated. His mother had inspired him to follow his dream and do what he always wanted do, which was sing. Over the years he continued to write songs, then later on he got associated with other singers penning them the songs he had wrote. As he grew up he had no mother figure next to him, but those years he had her gave him the strength to become the great person he is today. He achieved his dream of becoming a singer. He is not like other singers who get caught up and forget where they came from. He is proud of his background and of the parents that gave birth to him. Till this day his dad works in the fields, very proud of the accomplishments of his son. Espinoza Paz is still currently captivating people's life with his music. He made his dream come true.

What Makes Me Special

There is always something that makes everyone special. What makes me special is that I am myself. I stand up for what I believe in and I am very happy of my background and culture. You will never find another Yvette Rodriguez like me. I am unique in many ways. People might look at my nails like I am crazy, but when it comes to getting my nails done I get very colorful and creative. I have many qualities, such as being crazy, shy, or even mean if you get on my bad side. Most people think I am shy because I do not talk much, but my family know that this is so not true. At home I am the loudest in the house, and I do not care that everybody hears me. I am an Angel fan, which is rare in Los Angeles because most people are Dodger fans. I have been told more than once that I always put people before me, and I noticed it is true. I have also noticed I like to put myself out there, but at the same time I feel shy and scared. I have also noticed I am very uniquely from people that go to my school because not everyone listens to the music I hear or like baseball till death like me. I like being unique because it makes me special and one of a kind. No one will ever be like me.

Collge After High School

Some people go right on to college after high school; others take a year or more off to work or travel. Which do you think is the better choice? State your position and support it with specific reasons and examples.

Going to college right after high school is important. I think that those that skip a few years before going to college after high school loose out in a lot of things. They would be waiting their time and in that case why did they go to school for twelve years and let it all go into the drain. People should just go to college right after high school. It will benefit them greatly in the future.

After our summer vacation when we come back to school, I totally forget what I learned the school year before. That was only two months and I forgot what I had learned. If a person skips a few years after high school and does not go to college that would make their knowledge decrease and some of the stuff they learned will be forgotten. They will then have problems in their classes, tests, homework and it is possible that they can fail the class. It will be easier to go to college after high school because a person's knowledge will be fresh and their performance in college will be much better than if they wait a couple years.

If you’re a person that likes to get things done fast so you will not worry about it in the future, well you should go straight into school to finish school faster. This will save you time and you will be able to achieve more things. The faster you finish the better it will be for you. If you finish faster you can have the chance to start your career earlier and you will not be stuck in school as if it seems forever.

It is possible that if you want to take a vacation or work, you can do all those three things at the same time. You will not have to miss a year or more before going in to college. My sister has been working, traveling and going to school at the same time. She manages her schedule and she is able to leave time to do homework and study as well as work after her classes. We have family vacations so we go when she and us are out of school. If my sister can do all those three things at the same time so will other people.

These are the reasons why you should go to college right after high school. This will benefit you in many ways. Do not waste your time and finish on time so you can achieve your career faster than usual people. Give yourself the opportunity to relief from stress and get it over with. Going to college right after high school is important.

Pride In One's Work

People should have pride in one's work. If you are creating something that you took time on you should have pride on it. Show it off to the world so they can see it. I have known of many people who have done something and they are afraid to claim that they did it. People should not do that because they are the ones that did it and they should take credit for it. That happens to me sometimes because I feel embarrassed about what people might think about my work. I should not do that because I should not feel that way of myself. What if people do not like my ideas or work, it is what I think and how I feel about something. Every individual should be proud of their work. Those who do have pride in their work are now exhibiting they talents in museums, galleries, and you can even find them at the library. They can help shape a person in life, giving them motivation to continue their work and achieving their goals. It is important to have pride in one's work.

Researchers show that the average American watches as much as six hours of television each day. I believe that watching six hours of television is too much. They should stop watching too much television and find ways to occupy themselves. It is not good and people should start to think it might harm them eventually. Adults should start changing so they can set examples for the younger kids who live in the house.

The first reason why people should stop watching too much television is because they will hurt their vision. This can make a person become blind. It is a matter of time because it will not happen right away. It has happened to me before and now I try not to watch too much television. Once you start squinting your eyes and have trouble watching the television, that means you have to stop! Before you know it you will then need to start using glasses because your vision will get weaker. After this you will then realize you should have never watched too much TV and just watch it occasionally.

Nowadays people that watch too much TV do not get the proper amount of physical activity. All they do is sit down all day and most likely eat as they are watching TV. It is bad because obesity is becoming a problem all over the world, and buy watching TV all day it will make it worst because all you will do is be on your butt. There are many fun activities to o outside. Go out and enjoy nature while you can, do not waste your time like a potato couch watching TV all day. Get up and get a life!

Who wants to be watching television for six hours a day while they could be doing other interesting things? I sure do not! In that time you are wasting you could be doing useful things such as completing your homework, reading books, learning new things, or doing chores around the house. All this time you could also be going to school or get a job to be able to live through the breakdown of the economy. Be a productive person, become a better person and have a better future. Couch potatoes are not acceptable, get off that couch and go do something productive for this planet. It will also help you a lot as well.

Watching too much TV is harmful. Get up and be responsible and become a better person in life. Watching TV will not pay for your bills or do your homework, so do it for you own good. You will only be harming yourself by doing this often. Stop watching too much television and start your life fresh. There is always a limit, but do not overdo it because it will do you no good. Do not watch too much TV!

Diversity

The definition of diversity is a variety or a point of difference. There exists many diversities in this world. You can pick out from many different things. Imagine there was no diversity. The world would be dull and everyone would look exactly the same. There would be no point to this, might as well not exist. There is a diversity in humans, flowers, animals, colors, and many other amazing things that live or are found on this planet. When I hear the world diversity, the word different comes to my mind. Everywhere you look you will find diversity. Having diversity among us is very beautiful because we get to see different things. There are many things out there we see every day and also many other things that we are yet to discover. Every person is diverse, there are no two people alike. It would be boring if there was no diversity. It would be such as if I was looking at a plain white paper every time and every day. Diversity means to be different or have variety. Be a diverse person.

Cooperation

In the dictionary, cooperation is defined as an act or instance of working or acting together for a common purpose or benefit. Cooperation also happens to be one of the six pillars of character. To me cooperation is when everyone works together to achieve something. We are all encouraged to use cooperation to accomplish our class work in school. Cooperation is important because it is essential to our learning environment. If cooperation did not exist, many things could not be done. Everyone would be working alone without help and it could be possible that many of those things will not get completed. It takes ones person to start something, and without cooperation this would not be possible. In order to have cooperation we all need to work together. Everyone should cooperate and help each other.

Communication

Communication over the past twenty years has changed a lot. It has been improving and there are many ways you can communicate. One of the major ways to communicate is through the internet. There are many networks you can use to talk to people such as messengers, chat rooms, Facebook, MySpace, AIM and via email. Not only can you have internet on a computer, but you can also enjoy it on an iPod or even a cell phone. Another device very popular among adults and teenagers used is the cell phone. People can now easily communicate by talking or texting through their cell phone. Before it was common that you just used house phones, but now you can choose from a variety of cell phones and companies. House phones as well have improved. They have a built in caller id to make it easier for you to know who is calling your house. They are also way much smaller than before. They have also invented Bluetooth for cell phones. This helps for those that are driving or for those that always have their hands occupied at work. With the way communication has changed, our life has been made easier. It will continue to change and improve in the future.

Techniques Or Methods Teachers Can Use

Teachers are well appreciated by the students. This is what I want to become, an elementary teacher. Every teacher has different methods or techniques to get the students attention. A method they can use to make their job more effectively would be to always have their students occupied on an activity that is fun, but also about learning. The teacher should balance it out so that the students will be able to enjoy the subject. It would also be a great idea to give out prizes or rewards when they accomplish their assignment correctly and neatly. When I become a teacher I will do the same. A teacher should also always use visuals to help out the student understand the subject better. Teachers should also have some form of discipline in order for the students to behave like they should in class. Most of the students nowadays do not behave properly in class and they disrespect the teacher by talking while the teacher is talking. Some of the students even have the nerve to talk back to the teacher. They should make the classroom rules clear to the students. Another thing that would help is that if they have a long lesson for the day, they should do half of it and then let the students take a five to ten minute break. They should then continue the other half and proceed with the lesson plan. If teachers find new ways to make their job more effectively, they will make their life and the student's way more easier.

Conveniences

A convenience is something that makes you comfortable and at ease. A convenience can change people's lives positively or negatively. It can changes a person's life positively by helping them. For example, if a person is trying to find a way to get to a place faster, it will be more convenient for them to look at a map or take a shortcut to their destination. Conveniences will help make a person's life easier and faster to achieve a method. This is the way you should use conveniences. A convenience can change a person's life negatively because that is how they will become a bad person. For example, someone may always rely on a person to copy their homework from and they will think it is convenient for them. The person they are copying from might not like it all. A negatively convenient person tends to be clingy and always rely on others for their benefit. This will not help them at all in the future and it will only mess them up. But as I said, there are also positive conveniences and those are the ones that you want to practice, only if you need too. I at times have done both positively and negatively conveniences, but I prefer to be a positive person and not abuse of people's kindness.

A Person's Fame And Fortune

A person achieves fame and fortune by the things they do or talents they might have. Not everyone in this world is famous. You are either born into a family that is already rich or you become rich by your talents or something you discovered or invented. Some people have achieved fame just by doing something unimaginable. There are reasons why someone who has fame and fortune might change their life. One of those reasons might be that they are so famous that everyone might know them and this can cause a major controversy in their life. This can also lead them to a world where they will get lost and start doing drugs and alcohol. Another habit they might get is that they will party everyday and they will not care about anything only about themselves. On the other hand, there are those that get affected in a good way because they will give to charities and support causes for those that are in need of a helping hand. In some cases it might be that a famous person was once poor and lived in the street, but then they become famous and they become filthy rich and live in a mansion and own various properties and cars. It might also affect them physically and mentally. Some people that are famous and are rich have gone through a lot, such as gaining or losing weight, going through psychological problems or just become crazy. It is best that they contribute to the society and not become people they will be hated on. Hopefully one day in the future I can achieve fame and fortune.

Major Environmental Problem- Recycling

A major environmental problem is recycling. Many people do not recycle and it harms our environment. I have walked in some couple of streets and I often find plastic bottles or plastic bags rolling alongside. When ever I see that I always go and pick it up and wait until I see a recycling bin to dispose of it properly. In some cases I have seen that people throw out plastic bottles or bags out their windows. Those people are crazy! They should just wait until they find a recycling bin. I know that if they do that people will get ticketed, but they have to enforce it more so that way people will stop doing it. People should be more considerate for where they live and form groups and go out and clean up. It would be nice if instead of advertising inappropriate things they advertised recycling billboards or commercials on television. Not everyone is aware of this problem, so it would be best that everyone be informed as soon as possible. We have to protect our planet and take care of the things that live in it. Everyone should take part in this. It is starting to become a big issue, and it is our job to make sure that it doesn’t end up harming our environment completely. If it becomes a problem we can not fix we will all regret not doing our job and all I can say is,” Please God, help us!” Recycle and help out our planet.

Public Health Concerns- HIV/STD's

A public health concern I believe is serious enough to warrant immediate attention is HIV/STD’s. It has been a big issue over the past few years. People do not take it seriously and decide not to use protection while having sexual intercourse. They are putting their lives at risk. They do not notice it when they are doing it at the moment, but once they find out they have HIV/STD’s they will regret not protecting themselves while they engaged in any sexual activity. If this continues, soon it will become an epidemic. It is better to stop it before it gets worst and spreads around from one place to another. It has become most often because now teenagers are engaging in practicing sexual intercourse at a young age and the do not know how to deal with it properly. It is better that they wait until they are older because they will have much more knowledge of the topic and they will know the proper way to protect themselves. When teenagers are in high school, they should get educated about sex so they can know more about it. Some teenagers do not know anything and go ahead and engage in sexual intercourse. I myself have not yet been informed by any adult but I have heard things and I am informed a bit. Some parents might be embarrassed to talk to their kids about this, but it is best that they know about it so they will not make a mistake they will regret for the rest of their

Causes And Problems Resulting From Teenage Smoking

When a teenager starts smoking, there are several reasons why they started in the first place. At their home they can be having family problems. These problems become psychological and the teenager will start to depend on something to make them feel better of themselves. They will start smoking and eventually they will become rebels. They will not listen to anyone and they will want to boss themselves around. Another problem that could have caused this is the friends they hang out with. In some cases it has occurred that they are influenced to do bad stuff by their friends, or they do it to be part of the crew just to be accepted. Another influence are adults. If they see them smoking since they were little kids, they will want to try it out once they hit the teenager years. Adults should set an example and be mindful about the younger kids. Problems that result from teenage smoking are bad. They will then become addicts and smoke box after box until they cannot survive without smoking every second of the day. Smoking is bad and it can cause you to have cancer. After they get the results that they have gotten cancer, they will be upset and then realize that it was too late. People tend to do bad things and once it too late they wish they can go back and fix that mistake. Somehow smoking can also lead a teenager into "the lost world". By this I mean that they will forget about everything and everyone and just be in their own world. Their life will go directly down the drain. Teenage smoking should come to an end now!

Importance of Math

From all the subject we are thought in class, Math is one of the important subjects we need to learn about. It is important because in a daily base we use math even though we do not notice it. It is also required if the profession you want to major in requires math. You will find math anywhere and everywhere. It all started when you where in elementary school, learning that 2+2= 4. As you grew up, you learned more and more about the concepts of math. Your brain developed a wider concept, and you began to use it and apply it at school, work or at home. I think that as long as you know the basic math problems, you will be able to survive in life. At least be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide. In high school there are three years of a math required, but four years are encouraged. Math is one of the main subjects to be learned in school. Some people might find it to be boring or hard, but they should know how to work it out. If anyone needs help to learn and understand it better, they should get help from a professional person. You cannot get away from learning math. It is really important that you learn math. Later on in life you will then see why it is really important. It is possible that math can help you save someones life. That is how important math is. You have to take it seriously, it is not a joke. So think about it and hopefully you understand that math is an important required subject.  

Food People Eat

There are many kinds of food all over the world. Every person is particular to what food they like to eat. In many cases there are people who cannot eat certain foods because they are allergic to them or because they are lactose and tolerant. The appearance of the food also attracts people to try it out. The major factor that attracts people to eat food is the taste. It leaves you in the feeling of heaven, making you want to try it over and over again. It is obvious that a person will only eat the food they like because if they do not like a certain kind of food they will never eat it again after they find out they do not like it the first time they tried it. There are also people that like to eat weird food. They combine it and experiment with it. I have done that before and actually it is not bad because the experiments I have done are good. It is also good to try new food so you can get a taste of what is out there. It is good if you get a chance to taste foods from different places of  the world. Some people might chooses the food they eat for the ingredients it might contain. It is possible that a person that likes carrots will eat carrot soup just because it is made of carrots. There are also those that are picky with their food and will only eat it the way they like it to look or taste. Many people have different ways of choosing the particular kind of food they eat.

Hawaiian Flower

This flower is white and yellow and you can see the leaves in the background, which looks like green minty leaves. It reminds me of the ocean and I can hear the waves as they are coming into the shore. It makes me feel happy, calm and very relaxed. I would like to go to the place where the flower is found. Looking at it makes me think of coconuts.

Purposes Of The Internet

The internet has become very famous all over the world. It is used for many things, such as for school, personal use and for work. For the students at school, they use the internet for many reasons. They are given many assignments to research or for homework. They use the internet to obtain information they need to complete their work. There is many vital information and it is very helpful for many students in all grade levels. Whenever I need help or I want to know something I go on Google and I always get the information I need. For those that use the internet for personal use, they usually go to the websites to play games use Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, etc., or they also use the chat rooms or messengers to talk to other people they now or do not know. The internet may be dangerous when you use it for personal use because in many occasions you might meet new people and they could be rapists or bad people that want to harm others. When you are on the internet you have to have precaution and be aware that there are many people out there that also use the internet. For those that use the internet for work, they use it to advertise and also promote their products. It can also help them for research on their work. The users of the internet might feel fortunate to have it because they are able to find many stuff they can research. I feel sorry for those that did not have internet access back in the days when it still did not exist. Today we are very lucky people to have internet access. Providers should be happy because us as the users are making more money for them every time we visit their pages or buy their products. A single click of your mouse can do anything. Just imagine all those people who might be clicking the mouse button right this instance.   

Change Of Plans

It was Monday October 18, 2010 and I was in Mr. Wallace's class. He told Karen and I to go make copies for him. We went and then we came back to the class with seventy-eight copies. He then explained to us that we had to complete three prompts each day, which each have to be two- hundred and fifty words minimum from Mondays to Fridays. Mr. Wallace then said we had to define twenty- five words per week from the vocabulary for advanced placement students. Not only that, but we also have to turn in our essay on Friday as well. It is too much work! That day when I got home, I decide that I had to make changes in my schedule. I decided that I was going to do my homework from my other classes before I take a shower which is not until 7:00 P.M. After I finish taking a shower, I will begin on my prompts at 8:00 P.M. and I will have two hours to complete them before I go to sleep at 10:00 P.M. On Wednesdays I will start to work on my essay so that way I can finish it on time. The words will have to probably wait until over the weekend because I will have much more time to define them. This time I will try to keep up with my prompts so that I will not be in a rush last minute the day before they are due. This will hopefully help me out, and I hope that I can have enough time to get my work done for my other classes. Let's see how this plan works out for me.  

My Ideal Vacation

An ideal vacation to me would be magical and very relaxing. I would like to be near the beach, living in a beach house in Cancun. Every morning I would wake up to see the sun rise. It would be especially wonderful if that one special person was there with me. We would both sit down in the sand, hearing the waves and the sound of the ocean. The sun will set slowly, watching the wonderful colors of the sun. I would go in the water, feeling the waves through my legs. After a while I would go to the sand and build sculptures and bury myself in the sand. As the night is getting near I would build a bonfire. The oceans in Cancun are very clean, which makes it even better. At night I would like to enjoy the night life of Cancun. I would go to the night clubs and dance all night. If I had the chance, I would also drink and get drunk, enjoy my time and forget about my problems. I would also like to get a tour around the city so I can get to know new places. Another thing I would like to do is go with those people that give massages outside so they can relieve my stress. In my beach house, I would love to have a jacuzzi so that I can have time for myself and just relax as the water is moving my body. Relaxation would be the key for my vacation, giving myself the pleasure to have an enjoyable and relaxing time.

Problems That Result From Obesity

Obesity has become a major issue to worry about lately. There are many reasons why people in America and all over the world are becoming obese. Our society and personal life have to do a lot with this issue. First of all, a person might be living a bad personal life. It could be that a person might feel depressed, lonely and not supported by any of their family members. This can lead to them eating to fill in their sadness, making them feel better of themselves. Each time they feel this way they will continue to eat and eventually they will eat and eat everyday and every time of the day. This will eventually become into a bad thing and that person will become obese if they continue to eat the way they do. Family disputes may also affect a person to become obese. Seeing your parents fight all the time and not caring about you will get you really depressed and what else to make you feel better, food. In the society, the major contributors to obesity are the fast food chains. All that promoting of hamburgers and fries and all that crap they advertise make people want to go out and buy the food. It is greasy and bad for a person's health. Eventually if they keep on eating all this food, they will start to gain weight little by little. Next thing you know, you will be looking at a unhealthy and obese person. If all these problems and things did not exist, it would be a better world and everyone would be healthy. Obesity would have never existed.
